Josh and Mackenzie must have been exhausted by the end of their day, after a cycle of happy tears and belly laughing all day!!!! Josh’s brother, Nick, surprised them by getting leave from the Marines to attend their wedding. It added such a sweetness to their day, making both Josh and Kenzie cry with joy, instead of feeling grief over the absence of a loved family member!
We chose to move Mackenzie to a different spot for her first look with her Dad, so I suggested that the bridesmaids form a line to block the view in case anyone would see her when she had to pass through a doorway. Instead, they formed a moving wall around her, using their dresses as curtains to make sure nobody could get a glimpse of the bride. It was hilarious and absolutely a highlight of my day watching them laugh as they shuffled around Mackenzie!
They chose to share personal vows together after the ceremony (cue the tears again!) and then head off on campus for some stunning photos together, with the wedding party, and with their dog!
Hotel Northland was the reception venue, and Mackenzie had thought of every little detail! Even the stairs leading up from the atrium had floral arrangements. A personalized, decorative barrel was on display, a gift from McKenzie’s parents.
It was very evident that both Josh and McKenzie have huge hearts and have loved their friends and family so well. May your love and joy grow over your years of marriage to come!
